Well, winter is here, and the pandemic has gone nowhere. With the cold weather comes a decrease in accessible activities that are COVID-friendly. 

Don’t get down about it, though! It just means you need to be a little more creative with your activities. Here are some ideas to help you beat boredom this winter while avoiding crowds.

Winter Hiking 

Just because it’s winter, doesn’t mean you still can’t go hiking. In fact, plenty of folk love hiking in winter. You get to see beautiful views that are unlike those of any other time of the year. Trees touched by frost, the sun glittering off the snow…

But there’s still the matter of the cold. Thankfully, heated apparel solves that problem. 

Not only does heated clothing help insulate the natural warmth provided by your body’s movement, but it also supplies its own source of heat so you can hike comfortably. 

Some options that are great for winter hiking are the heated parka, heated fleece jacket, and the heated down jacket. 

Backyard Fun

Who says you need to go anywhere to have fun? You can have a blast right in your backyard! 

You can keep it classic and build a snowman, make snow angels, or have a good old-fashioned snowball fight with the people in your household. Some other ideas are to have a fireside hot cocoa night or a winter stargazing session.

Holiday Decor Stroll

Even though the pandemic has prevented us from, say, going to the mall to get pictures with Santa, it hasn’t stopped people from decorating their houses!

Take a walk around your neighborhood (in the evening if you can) and enjoy the lights and decor. Maybe you even live in an area with a particular neighborhood known for epic holiday decor. If so, you can make a quick drive and walk around there.

Mini Photoshoot

Another way to lift your spirits this winter while social distancing is to have your own little photoshoot! Those who live near tree-lined streets can take advantage of the stunning winter wonderland look of snow tree tunnels. 

Or you can look for some classic evergreen trees to pose in front of. If you live in a mountainous area, get those snowy peaks in the shot! You could even bring some fun props like candy canes or tinsel.

Creating your own mini photoshoot session can be a great way to get out, have fun, and lift your spirits. You don’t even need a fancy camera; just use your phone! If you’re alone, you can take advantage of the self timer feature.

Don’t let cabin fever get you down this winter. There are plenty of things you can still do that don’t involve a crowd. Who knows—it may even start a new annual tradition!
