Can I wear this on its own or as a layering piece?

This is the second jacket I have bought this one was for my son. They are very good. I use mine for fly fishing in the cold weather it keeps me cosey and warm. The only improvement could be the buzzer.

Perfect when out walking and it turns colder than expected

I like it, but it's quite heavy, like you can feel there is solid "stuff" in there, and that makes it a bit less cosy. Also the chest heating bit doesn't suit me. It's a very small area either side of the zip, not as broad as it's pictured in the illustration, and it doesn't "do" much. I'd rather have a pocket warmer on the front. For reference, I am a 5'9, 150lbs, UK 12 ish and a unisex small fitted although if you had large hands you might go up a size, the ribbed cuffs are a bit tight to get over gloves.
